Dan Clifford of 265 Saint Claire St., Chairman of the Board of Assessors, announces he is running for the District 6 Town Council seat, formerly Precincts 11 and 12.

“The first few years of the transition to our mayor/town council form of government will be demanding.  It is crucial to elect people with demonstrated skills, vision, passion, and a record of accomplishments,” he said.

“My initiatives on the Board of Assessors and as a Town Meeting member provide the voters a clear record of accomplishments to compare to other candidates." 

"I delivered on commitments to homeowners and I am working for new equitable property tax reforms.  I proudly initiated legislation helping our servicemen and women by allowing 100 percent tax abatements (Click here for the Patriot Ledger Story) and created legislation increasing hotel/motel occupancy taxes that increase town revenues without increasing residential taxes."

“Our campaign will offer the voters new ideas and new strategies that address old fiscal problems and can ease or largely eliminate our financial crisis. Instead of looking at cutting budgets, we can think about increasing safety, security, and educational services without overrides or debt exclusions."

"It will take us all--residents, teachers, police, firefighters, and municipal workers--to come together.  We need to focus our energies and wills to succeed.  The money is there.  There are challenges, but united, we can do remarkable things.”
