Update on September 20, 2007:
Preview: A new Residential Property Tax crisis is headed at us next July 2008. Dan is working to avoid a major residential property tax increase as a result of Chaper 3 of the Acts of 2004 expiring on July 31, 2008. Dan is out in front of this pending train wreck with a "Call to Action", working with Boston's Mayor Menino office, Mayor Harrington of Brockton, Mayor Phalen of Quincy, Mayor Cohen of Newton and others, including Senator Michael Morrissey, and Govenor Patrick's staff.
By extending Chapter 3 of the Acts of 2004, or devising a compromise modification by our state legislators can the residents be spared a major property tax increase. Moreover, real State property tax reform is essential.
September 20, 2007 Update:
Senator Joyce's office acknowledged his understanding that action is needed relative to extending or creating a compromise version of "Chapter 3 of the Acts of 2004" , to avoid sharp residential property tax increases in fiscal year 2009. His office further said he will work with Senator Morrissey and Representative Driscoll on this very critical issue. Dan has recieved responses from Mayor Menino of Boston, and Mayor Harrington of Brockton to his "Call for Action" letter asking them to join him in bringing issue to the forefront and asking our legislator to act to avert a residential tax crisis. Both have written to their respective Beacon Hill legislators asking for action.
Dan has been far in front of this issue and working with several mayor's and their offices to keep this visible in his effort to prevent sharp residential property tax increases. Along with this activity, Dan has called for state wide property tax reform, and with your support and help he can continue his work as your Councilor.
