On Taxes
Our campaign will offer the voters new ideas and new strategies that address old fiscal problems and can ease or largely eliminate our financial crisis. Instead of looking at cutting budgets, we can think about increasing safety, security, and educational services without overrides or debt exclusions. It will take us all--residents, teachers, police, firefighters, and municipal workers--to come together. We need to focus our energies and wills to succeed. The money is there. There are challenges, but united, we can do remarkable things.
Dan is actively working with Boston's Mayor Menino, and several other Mayor's offices leading efforts for Property Tax relief.
(Click here for more details in his letter to the Mayors)
Several years ago Dan lead the fight to shift the tax burden off the residents shoulders and balance it more equitably with Commercial property owners. He is continuing that battle working with Mayor Menino, Phelan and others. (Click here for Brockton's Mayor Harrington's response to Dan's letter for a "Call to Action". )
State Property Tax Reform is needed and Governor Patrick agrees. He calls it Property Tax Over Reliance (Click here for Property Tax Over Reliance)
You voted me into the Assessors office as the "Residents candidate". I am still your advocate and my record and initiatives demonstrates it.
I would be honored to be able to continue to advocate for you as your District 6 Councilor.
