Subject:  Water Tank Project Update of February 4, 2009

Dear Resident:

As you are aware, construction at the Water Street Water Storage Tank site has been ongoing since this past fall.  The site has been cleared and new fencing has been installed.  The foundation has been modified to support the increase in height and resulting weight.  Backfilling of the trench around the foundation is scheduled to be completed this week. 

The next phase in the construction process is sand blast several areas of the tank to prepare it for jacking.  Sand blasting is scheduled to begin this Thursday, February 5, 2009.  The Contractor has been instructed to complete all work while minimizing potential negative impacts to the neighborhood.  The biggest potential impact during sandblasting will be noise.  The Contractor has been instructed that sandblasting can only occur between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  This partial sandblasting work is scheduled to be completed in approximately two weeks.  Afterwards, the tank will be jacked and the new steel sections added to the tank.  The jacking process is anticipated to begin the last week in February and continue through the end of March 2009.
